what is central route persuasion? systematic route of persuasion focused on the arguments. high elaboration. focus on data/information
what is peripheral route persuasion? a heuristic approach to persuasion where people are influenced by incidental cues. low elaboration. focusing on rules of thumb/attractiveness/ emotions
what are elements of persuasion? communicator, message content, audience.
what are factors in the communicator? 1. credibility. 2. attractiveness. (physical attractiveness, similarity of the person to you)
what is prestige suggestion? when a well known person makes a sugestion
what are factors for message content? one sided vs two sided, reason vs emotion, appeal to or creation of needs, social suggestion, good feelings, repetitiveness, symbolic interactions
what is one-sided vs two-sided? if audience agrees its one sided if they dont agree its two sided
what are factors for audience? 1. characteristics. 2. what are they thinking ( forewarning, distraction, desire/ability)
