Biotic Factors All the living things in an area.
Abiotic Factors All the non living things in an area.
Climate Describes average weather in a given area.
Atmosphere The layer of gases that surround Earth.
Evaporation When liquid water turns into gas.
Condensation When water vapor turns into liquid.
Precipitation Water that falls from Earth's clouds.
Nitrogen Fixation The process that turns atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogen compounds that are usable by living things.
Photosynthesis A series of chemical reactions that convert light, energy, water and carbon dioxide into the food energy molecule glucose.
Chemosynthesis The process during which producers use chemical energy in matter rather than light energy to make food.
Food Chain A model that shows how energy flows in an ecosystem through feeding relationships
Food Web Scientists use this model to show how food chains in a community are interconnected.
Energy Pyramid Scientists use this model to show the amount of energy available in each step of a food chain
