feature a distinctive attribute or aspect of something.
trait a distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person.

protein molecule made from a long chain of these amino acids, each linked to its neighbor through a covalent peptide bond
structure the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex.
evidence the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.
gene the basic unit of heredity passed from parent to child
mutation the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA
gene version variations in the DNA sequence that can lead to differences in traits or characteristics
heterozygous a term that describes having two different versions of the same gene
homozygous having two identical alleles of a particular gene or genes.
inherit derive (a quality, characteristic, or predisposition) genetically from one's parents or ancestors.
sexual reproduction a biological process where two parent organisms combine their genetic material
asexual reproduction the process in which only one parent passes on its genetic information to create offspring.
offspring a person's child or children.
recessive the trait inherited only if offspring inherits 2 copies of the allele for that trait
dominant the trait is inherited as long as the offspring receives at least one copy of the allele
chromosome a long piece of DNA that contains many genes
DNA a type of molecule that genes and chromosomes are made of
