What is Input? A input is a peripheral used to put information into the computer
What is Output? A Output is a peripheral used to get information from a computer
Motherboard? Central to computer system, all components required for the system are plugged into the motherboard
CPU? Central processing unit, brains of the computer, controls actions of computer
RAM? Random Access Memory- Temporarily stores data, when turned off all data is automatically deleted, volatile/temporary storage- deleted when the computer goes off
ROM? Read Only Memory- Bios is chip that contains instructions and commands to tell how to start up. Non-volatile/permanent memory
Hard Drive? Used to permanently store data
Cooling Fan? Used to draw cooler air into the case from the outside
Heat Sink? Metal device, designed to absorb and disperse heat away from the CPU outfitted with built -in fans to help keep both the CPU and the heat sink at an appropriate temperature
Ports? Used to attach external peripherals to the computer
What is the CPU responsible for? Performing Calculations and Data Processing
Do CPU's come in a variety of speeds? Yes they do! They are known as "Clock Rates"
What are the 2 types of internal memory? RAM and ROM
What is the RAM and ROM referred to as? Primary Storage
What is Volatile Memory? Temporary storage, deleted as soon as the computer is turned off
What is Non-Volatile Memory? Permanent Storage
What is ROM used for? It is used to permanently store instructions that tell the computer how to boot(start up). It is also used to load up operating system
What happens when information is stored in the ROM? Information stored in ROM is known as read only. This means that contents of ROM cannot be altered or added to by the user.
Which one has more storage, RAM or ROM? RAM has a high and more storage capacity than ROM
What is Static RAM? Static Ram is one which requires the constant flow of the power to retain the data inside it.
What is Dynamic RAM? Dynamic RAM needs to be refreshed to retain the data it holds.
What is the only thing that can read the data in the ROM? The CPU
What is a Ergonomic Keyboard? An Ergonomic Keyboard is a keyboard that is designed to fit you(the user)
What are all the Soft Skills? Dependability, Effective Communication, Work Ethic, and Adaptability
What is Dependability ? Being on time, showing up for work
What is Effective Communication? Speaking/Writing/Clearly/Properly/Respectfully
What is Work Ethics? Set of rules to help you guide behavior and decisions at work
What is Adaptability? Being Flexible/Considerate
What are all Work place ethnics? Trust, Fairness, Responsibility, and Respect
What is Trust? Work scheduled hours, don't waste time, refuse to lie, cheat, steal
What is Fairness? Compromise, respect others' opinions, don't make excuses
