| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Force | a push or pull "an interaction between mases" |
| Mass | a measure of the quantity of matter in an object |
| Weight | the measure of the mass of an object times it's acceleration due to gravity |
| Newton | a unit that describes a measurement of force. The amount of force required to accelerate 1 Kg by 1/m/s/s. |
| Gravity | the force of attraction between masses |
| Gravitational Force | the force of attraction between objects with mass (same as gravity) |
| Newton's First Law of Motion | 1. states that an object at rest will remain at rest forever unless an outside force acts on it. 2. An object in motion will remain in motion in a straight line at a constant speed unless an outside force acts on it. |
| Newton's Second Law of Motion | F=ma Force = mass x acceleration |
| Newton's Third Law of Motion | For every action there is an equal and opposite reation |
| (g) | the acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s/s on earth |
