What are comets, and what can you see when they're in close proximity? icy objects, a trail
What is the smallest planet among the eight? Mercury
What is the largest planet among the eight? Jupiter
What does this mean? "Meat makes vegetables edible nested under spicy jam." The planets from smallest to largest.

Is the diameter of Neptune 49,244 km? yes
Is the diameter of Uranus 51,118 km? yes
Is the diameter of Saturn 120,500 km? yes
Is the diameter of Jupiter 142,800 km? yes
What is Mercury's surface made of, what is the dominant element? silicates, sulfure
Is Mercury's atmosphere thin because of solar radiation? yes
Does Mercury have a large iron core, and what gives it its color? yes, graphite
What is Venus' surface covered by? hot layers of mantle
What is on Venus' young and volcanically active landscape? volcanoes, rifts, mountains, valleys
What is the dominant rock type of Venus? basalt
Is Venus' dense, toxic atmosphere made up of sulfuric acid which gives it its color? yes
How is Venus similar to Earth? size, mass, composition, and density
What are the dominant elements in the Earth's crust? oxygen, silicon, aluminum, and orion
What are the 3 rock types? igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary
Is the Earth's atmosphere made up of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 0.9% argon? yes
What is the only known planet which can support life, and with continental and oceanic crust? Earth
What is Mars made of? volcanic basalt rock
What makes Mars red? iron oxide
What is the dominant gas in Mars' atmosphere? carbon dioxide
Do any of the gas giants have solid surfaces? no
What are the 2 dominant gases in gas giants? hydrogen and helium
What makes Uranus and Neptune blue? methane
Do terrestrial planets have a crust, mantle, and core? yes
Do ice giants have a core, mantle, and atmosphere, but not a crust? yes
Are terrestrial planets made up of rock, metal, silicate, iron, and nickel? yes
Are gas giants made of hydrogen and helium, along with heavier elements? yes
Are terrestrial planets denser than gas giants? yes
Do terrestrial planets have thin atmosphere? yes
Do gas giants have thick, unstable atmospheres? yes
Gas giants are smaller than terrestrial planets. True or False? false
Why is Venus the hottest planet? Carbon dioxide in its atmosphere traps the Sun's heat, causing a "runaway greenhouse effect."
What are asteroids? small, rocky objects that revolve around the sun. They are found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
What are comets? cosmic snowballs, made of frozen gases, rock, and dust. They also orbit the Sun.
What are meteoroids? space rocks made of silicon and oxygen, also iron and nickel. They come from asteroids or comets. When they become smaller, they turn into meteors.
What is the Kuiper Belt? large, circular-shaped region of icy bodies.
Where do short-period comets originate? (as proposed) The Kuiper Belt.
What is the Oort Cloud? large, spherical shell which surrounds the Sun, planets, and objects found in the Kuiper Belt. It is filled with ammonia and methane ice.
Where do long-period comets originate? (as proposed) The Oort Cloud.
What are dwarf planets? round, celestial objects that orbit the Sun.
Are the classifications to be a dwarf planet are: orbits the Sun, has enough mass to be circular, has not cleared the neighborhood near its orbit, and is not a moon? yes
Can Pluto clear its orbital path? no
