Science Vocabulary For Chapter One

QuestionAnswer
Physical Science- the study of matter and energy
Scientific Method- a series of steps that scientist use to anwser questions and solve problems
Technology- the application of Knowledge,tools, and materials to solve problems and accomplish tasks; Technology can also refer to the objects used to accomplish task
Observation- any use of the senses to gather information
Hypothesis- a possible explanation or answer to a question
Data- any pieces of information acquired through experimentation
Theory- a unifying explanation for a broad range of hypothesis and observations that have been supported by testing
Law- a summary of many experimental results and observation; a law tells how things work
Model- a representation of an object or system
Meter- the basic unit of the length in SI system
Volume- the amount of space that something occupies or the amount of space that something contains
Mass- the amount of matter that something is made of ......
Temerature- a measure of how hot (or cold) something is; specially, a measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in an object
Area- a measure of how much surface and object has
Density- the amount of matter in a given space; mass per unit volume
