Types of Energy

Energy the ability to do work
Potential Energy stored energy
Kinetic Energy motion energy or working energy
The Law of Conservation of Energy energy can never be created or destroyed, but it can change forms
Heat / Thermal Energy energy that moves from warmer objects to colder objects
Light energy that travels in waves away from its source, and can bounce off of objects into our eyes
Sound energy that travels in waves making matter vibrate, including making our eardrums vibrate
Electricity energy that is the flow of electrons (which are the outer parts of atoms)
Chemical Energy energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules. When you burn wood or digest food you release this energy from the bonds.
Fossil Fuel source of energy taken from underground that resulted from things that were alive a very long time ago. The most common three are oil, coal, and natural gas.
Gasoline a liquid that is usually made from oil taken from underground
