| Term | Definition |

| culture | the shared ways of living, beliefs, practices, and behaviors of a particular group of people that are passed from one generation to the next; these shared ways of living are expressed through shared customs, traditions, art, music, language, food, etc. |
| unique | being the only one of its kind; unlike anyone or anything else |
| identity | the state of being oneself, not another |
| customs | a regularly repeated action or way of behaving that is used and accepted among a particular group of people |
| traditions | customs and beliefs that are passed on from generation to the next |
| race | a socially constructed term that categorizes people based on their physical characteristics, such as skin color, eye color, and hair color and texture |
| ethnicity | a person’s identification with their cultural heritage; each ethnic group shares cultural traits like language, ancestry, religion, and customs |
| heritage | a person’s unique sense of identity that includes family traditions, values, and history; things that are passed down or handed down from generation to generation |
| stereotype | a common oversimplified, exaggerated, or inaccurate belief of a person, thing, or group |
| society | a group of people living in a particular country or region and having shared customs, laws, and organizations |
| artifact | an item created by humans and typically has a cultural or historical importance |
| values | standards of behavior; how people determine the difference between right and wrong |
