Academic Vocabulary for FSL / English 093

conversely In contrast or in the opposite way.
similarly Referring to sameness in two or more people, places, objects, or ideas
hierarchy A system in which people or groups are ranked one above the other.
hypothesis A proposed explanation based on limited evidence.
theory A system of ideas intended to explain something.
alternative A choice available as another possibility.
equate To consider as the same or equivalent.
compile To collect information from various sources to produce something.
allocate To distribute resources or duties for a particular purpose.
analogy A comparison between two things for explanation or clarification.
conflict A serious disagreement or argument.
catalyst A person or thing that precipitates an event or change.
