beta2-agonist beta2-adrenoceptor agonist (salbutamol for asthma and COPD- relax airway muscles improves airflow)
beta-blocker beta-adrenoceptor antagonist (used in cardiovascular disease- reduce heart rate)
cox inhibitor cyclo-oxygenase inhibitor (aspirin, ibuprofen used in pain + inflammation)
GTN glyceryl trinitrate (used in angina by relaxing blood vessels which increase heart blood flow )

MAB monoclonal antibody (selective antibody to blood, has a biological activity)

BNP B-type natriuretic peptide (measured in blood- indicates heart failure)
CRP C-reactive protein (measured in blood- indicates acute inflammation/ infection)

HB haemoglobin
MCV mean corpuscular volume (volume of each RBC)
HBA1C glycated haemoglobin
INR international normalised ratio (measure coagulation in patients taking warfarin)
U&ES urea and electrolytes in blood (standard blood test)
EGFR estimated glomerular filtration rate (measure renal function)
HDL high density lipoprotein (good cholesterol)
LDL low density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol)
