TermDefinition
Behavior genetics The study of the relative effects of genetic and environmental influences on behavior
Environment External factors influencing behavior and development.
Heredity The genetic transmission of characteristics from parents to offspring.
Behavioral Geneticists They study how genetic inheritance and environmental factors influence behaviors, explaining individual differences by examining genetic predispositions and environmental influences.
Identical twins Twins that originate from a single fertilized egg and share nearly 100% of their genetic material.
Fraternal twins Twins from two separate eggs and sperm, sharing about 50% of their genetic material.
Temperament A person's characteristic emotional reactivity and intensity, which can be observed in infancy and is believed to be influenced by genetic factors.
Heritability The proportion of variation in a trait among individuals in a population that is due to genetic factors.
Interact : Refers to how genetic predispositions and environmental influences work together to shape behavior.
Epigenetics : The study of changes in gene expression caused by mechanisms other than changes in the underlying DNA sequence, often influenced by environmental factors.
