Chemical equations A chemical equation is a representation of a chemical reaction in which the reactants and products are expressed as formulas.
Coefficient A number that appears before a formula, A number placed in front of chemical symbol/formula that shows how many atoms or molecules of the substance involved
Molar mass the mass of one mole in a substance is
Synthesis Reaction reaction in which 2 or more substances react to form a single substance
Decomposition reaction A reaction which a compound breaks down into two or more simpler substances
Single replacement reaction a reaction in which one element takes the place of another element in a compound.
Double replacement reaction one in which two different compounds exchange positive ions and form two new compounds.
combustion reaction a combustion reaction is one in which a substance reacts rapidly with oxygen. Often producing heat and light.
Exothermic reaction chemical reaction that releases energy to surroundings is called an exothermic reaction the product that releases is greater than the energy to break a bond.
chemical reaction absorbs energy from its surroundings
catalyst a catalyst is a substance that affects the reaction rate without being used up in a reaction
Equilibrium Equilibrium is a state in which forwards and reverse paths of a change take place at the same rate
eversible reaction a reaction in which the conversion of reactants to products and the conversion of products into reactants can happen simultaneously.
