| Hormone | 1. A chemical that affects growth and development. 2. The chemical product of an endocrine gland. |
| Photoperiodism | A plant's response to seasonal changes in the length of night and day. |
| Critical night length | The number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower. |
| Dormancy | A period of time when an organism's growth or activity stops. |
| What are the 3 stimuli that produce plant responses? | Touch, gravity, and light are three important stimuli that trigger growth responses, or tropisms, in plants. |
| What is an example of positive and negative tropism? | Roots show positive gravitropism although, stems show a negative gravitropism. |
| What triggers a plant to flower? | The amount of darkness a plant receives detriments the time of flowering in many plants. |
