| North Pole | The end of a magnet that orients toward Earth’s magnetic north pole |
| South Pole | The end of a magnet that orients toward Earth’s magnetic south pole |
| oriented | To position an object in a certain way |
| magnetic force | Magnetic push or pull |
| magnetic field | An area of magnetic influence around a magnet |
| interacts | To act on and be acted upon by something else |
| temporary magnet | A piece of iron that behaves like a magnet only when it is under the influence of a magnetic field |
| induced magnetism | The influence of a magnetic field on a piece of iron, which makes the iron a temporary magnet |
