Aspect Ratio a ratio of the width of the monitor to the height of the monitor

Bit Single Unit of Data
Bus series of connections, controllers, and chips that creates the information highway of the computer
Byte made of 8 bits and is the amount of memory needed to store one alphanumeric character
Central Processing Unit (CPU) Small Chip found on the motherboard that manipulates data sent from a program, brains of the computer
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) Speical type of memory chip that uses a small rechargable or lithium battery to retan informatin about the PC's hardware while the computer is turned off
Computer programmable electronic device that can store, retrieve, and process data
Dot Pitch measurement of how close the dots are located to one another within a pixel
Hard Drive main repository for programs and documents on the computer
Matrix rectangular or square table of numbers that represent the pixel intensity to be displayed on the montior
Memory used to store information being currently processed within the central processing unit
Motherboard large circuitry board inside the computer, it contains many important small components to make the computer function properly
Operating System (OS)` Software that controlthe computer hardware and acts as a bridge between applications and the hardware
Pixel baic picture element on a display
Port Collection of connectors sticking out of the back of the computer that links adapter cars, drive, printer, etc
Power Supply delivers all electricity and provides connection to power devices in the computer
Refresh Rate measure of how fast the monitor rewrites the screen or the number of times that the image is redrawn on the display each second
Resolution number of pixels contained on a display
Viewablw Area measures from one corner of the display to the opposite corner diagonally
