TermDefinition
Atom basic building block of the universe One atom of each element is represented on the periodic table
Proton positive charge and located inside the nucleus of an atom
Neutron Neutral or no charge located inside the nucleus of an atom
Electron negative charge located outside the nucleus in the cloud of an atom
Nucleus the center of an atom
Subscript tells you how many atoms of an element there are
Coefficient tells you how many compounds there are
valence electrons these are the electrons in the outer most level that are involved with bonding
Oxiation Numbers these tell you how many electrons are involved in bonding
