Antianxiety agents
| Term | Definition |

| Anxiety | A normal response to stress, but when it becomes excessive or chronic, it can interfere with daily life. |
| Panic Disorders | Characterized by recurrent and unexpected panic attacks - sudden episodes of intense fear or discomfort. |
| Phobias | Are intense, irrational fears of specific objects, situations, or activities that lead to a significant distress and avoidance behavior. |
| Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) | A mental health condition characterized by the presence of obsessions, compulsions or both. |
| Sedation | Reduction of activity and simple anxiety |
| Hypnotic dose | Inducing sleep |
| GABA | Neurotrasmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid,an inhibitory neurotrasmitter: its main function is to reduce neuronal excitability and inhibit excessive nerve activity. GABA produces a calming effect. |
