what is cancer? a group of diseases tht effect all organs of the body
what are some other terms for cancer? malignant neoplasm, tumor, malignancy or carcinoma
what is a malignant tumor? cancerous tissue growth which may rob its host of nutrients
symptoms of cancer that a patient might have . pain, mass, pathological fx, bleeding
what are a few side effects of radiation for cancer? depressed immune system, increased bleeding, bone and joint necrosis, decreased ability to produce RBC's
what are a few side effects of chemotherapy for cancer? same as radiation and also alopecia(hair loss)
what is chemotherapy used for? used to interfere with cell division
what are some PT treament plans for cancer? gait training, functional mobility, breathing exercises, ADL's, ROM strengthening exercises, scar management and modalities for pain
