| Terracing | When people build flat steps, like stairs, into the sides of hills or mountains. This helps make flat areas for farming and keeps soil from washing away when it rains. |
| Contour Plowing | A way of plowing fields along the natural curves or lines of a hill, instead of straight up and down. This helps stop rainwater from washing soil away and keeps the land healthy for farming. |
