| Milky Way | The spiral galaxy that earth is located in |
| supercluster | A group or cluster of galaxies that are close together |
| spiral galaxies | A galaxy that has spiral arms, a central bulge and a rotating disk of stars. |
| spiral arms | The curved region of a spiral galaxy that extends from the galactic center. |
| Elliptical Galaxies | Galaxies that have an oval shape and contain older, low-mass stars. Most abundant galaxies. |
| Irregular Galaxies | Galaxies with no specific form or structure. |
| Light Year | The distance that light travels in one year. |
