Categorizing Galaxie

Galaxy A system of millions or billions of stars, made of gas and dust held together by gravitational attraction
Milky Way The spiral galaxy that earth is located in
supercluster A group or cluster of galaxies that are close together
spiral galaxies A galaxy that has spiral arms, a central bulge and a rotating disk of stars.
spiral arms The curved region of a spiral galaxy that extends from the galactic center.
Elliptical Galaxies Galaxies that have an oval shape and contain older, low-mass stars. Most abundant galaxies.
Irregular Galaxies Galaxies with no specific form or structure.
Light Year The distance that light travels in one year.
