Audiometry the graphic record drawn from the results of hearing tests with the audiometer; charts the threshold of hearing at various frequencies against sound intensity in decibles.
Electrocochleography a measurement of the electrical potentials generated in the inner ear as a result of sound stimulation
Electronystagmography electrooculography; skin electrodes are placed at outter canthi to register horizontal nystagmus, or above and below each eye for vertical nystagmus
Electroretinography a record of the retinal action currents produced in the retina by an adequate light stimulus
Fluorescein an orange-red crystalline powder that yields a bright green flourescence in solution; a nontoxic, water-soluble indicator used to Dx to trace water flow and to visualize corneal abrasions or ulcers
Gonioscope a lense designed to study the angle of the anterior chamber of the eye
Ophthalmoscope an instrument for examining the inner eye chambers and the retina
Optometer an instrument for determining the refraction of the eye
Optomyometer an instrument for determining the relative power of the extrinsic muscles of the eye
Otoscope an instrument for examining the drum membrane or ausculating the ear
Slit Lamp an instrument consisting of a microscope combined with a rectangular light source that can be narrowed into a narrow beam for examination of anterior segments of the eye
Tonometry measurement of ocular tension
Tympanogram a visual depiction (printout) of the relative compliance and impedance of the structures of the middle ear in response to pressure changes in the external ear canal
