brand Name trademark of a drug or device held by the originating manufacturing company
chemical structure The makeup of a chemical, including the elements, the shape, the bonding types, the molecular configurations, charges, etc.
Drug classification Categorization based on various characteristics, including the chemical structure of a drug, the action of a drug, and/or the therapeutic or anatomical use of a drug
drug facts and compariosns Reference book found in pharmacies that contains detailed information on more than 22,000 prescriptions and 600 OTC medications.
Formulary a list of approved drugs to be stocked by the pharmacy; also a list of drugs covered by an insurance company.
generic name name assigned to a medication or nonproprietary name of a drug.
monograph comprehensive information on a medications actions within that class of drugs; also lists generic and trade names,
Non-formulary A list of drugs that are not included in the list of preferred medications that a committee of pharmacists and physicians deems to be the safest, most effective, and most economical;
package insert Official prescribing information for a prescription drug; the medication information sheet provided by the manufacturer that includes side effects, dosage forms, indications, and other important information.
trade name the proprietary or brand name given to a drug by the company who developed it; the trade name may be related to the function or main use of the drug.
