What are the two ways for persuasion? Peripheral and central route persuasion
What are social norms? Acceptable behavior
What is conformity? Social pressure
What are two types of conformity? Suggestibility and natural mimicry
What is suggestibility? Matching other people to always fit in
What is mimicry? feeling emotions others feel (mood linkage)
What is group polarization? When everyone is more focused on peace and do not share there own beliefs
What are three types of group behaviors? Social facilitation, social loafing, deindividuation
What is social facilitation? A group does better when someone is watching
What is social loafing? One person does all the work in a group
What is deindividulation? No longer want our identity but want the groups identity
What is the internet as a social amplifier? Being focused on one thing
What is prejudice? Prejudgment (what you grew up knowing)
What is explicit and implicit prejudice? Explicit prejudice is clear awareness and implicit prejudice is unthinking response
What are three influences of biology of aggression? Genetic influences, neural influences, and biochemical influences
What does aversive events equal to? frustration-aggression principle
What is reinforcement and modeling? copying emotions/actions
What is media models for violence? Social scripts
What are two types of attraction? Psychology of attraction, and modern matchmaking
What is psychology of attraction? Proximity
What is modern matchmaking? Speed dating
How long is passionate love? 3 to 5 months
What comes first passionate love o companionate love? Passionate love then companionate love
What is altruism? Good things you do without it benefiting you
Is someone more likely to help another person in a large or small group of people? A small group
What is a social trap? Changing something it wont be better perspective
