What is evaportation? The process of turning from a liquid to a gas when thermal energy is added.
What is a liquids resistance to flowing called? viscosity
Which state of matter has a definite shape and volume? solid
When thermal energy is removed a gas will turn in to a liquid. What is this called? condensation
A very small portion of matter is called this? particle
When a gas becomes a solid, skipping over the liquid phase, is called? Sublimation
A measure of how much space an object take up. volume
What is an element? A pure substance that can not be separated any smaller.
What is a homogenous mixture? A mixture that all parts have been mixed together fully, it looks uniform.
What is the substance a solute is dissolved into when making a solution? solvent
what is a molecule made of? two or more atoms
In a mixture, each substance will keep its original... properties
An example of a heterogenous mixture would be? cereal
What is a compound? A substance made up of 2 or more separate elements
What is an example of a compound? H20-water
What is the difference between a homogenous and a heterogeneous mixture? Homogenous mixture are uniform and heterogeneous mixtures keep the different properties of the parts that are mixed together.
In an ionic bond, electrons are.... transferred to another atom
In a covalent bond, electrons are.... shared by atoms
The rule that describes if an element has achieved stability. the octet rule
A neutral atom has an equal amount of these two particles. protons and electrons
How can we tell if a compound has an ionic bond or a covalent bond? Ionic bonds conduct electricity and will create bubbles, covalent bonds do not.
