Distance-Time Graphs

7th Grade Unit 8

TermDefinition
x-axis The horizontal axis that shows the independent variable
y-axis The vertical axis that shows the dependent variable
line graph a visual representation of data where points are connected by lines, showing how something changes over time
speed graph a graph with distance or position on on the y axis and time on the x-axis
speed the change in distance over a specific amount of time
constant speed the speed of an object remains the same. It does not increase or decrease
independent variable A variable that stands alone and is not changed by other variables
dependent variable The thing being measured or observed in an experiment, and its value is expected to change or be affected by the independent variable
velocity speed in a given direction
