| Lever | A rigid bar that is fixed at a fulcrum |

| Compound Machines | A combination of two or more simple machines example blender, washing machine, VCR |
| Work Input | Work that comes from the force that is applied to the machine |
| Screw | An inclined plane |
| Work Output | Work done by a machine |
| Efficiency | The comparison between work input and work output |
| Mechanical Advantage | The advantage created by a machine that enables people to work while using less force |
