| alpha particle | comprised of two protons and two neutrons |
| chain reaction | an ongoing series of fission reactions |
| gamma particle | electromagnetic waves with high frequency energy |
| radiation treatment | used to stop the growth of some types of cancer cells |
| radiometric dating | finding the age of an object by measuring isotope and |
| wire chamber | used to detect trajectories of nuclear particles using charged wires |
