Adequate Education Set of basic academic standards
Handicap Accessible People who have disabilities have services, programs, and areas where they don't feel discriminated
Civil Rights Act Bans discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Supports special education for children with disabilities
Common Schools Public school w/ Primary/Secondary, usually just primary
Language Revitalization Prevent from languages to go extinct/ Revive Languages
Cultural Difference Theory Children grow up in different cultures --> Learn in different ways
Parochial Schools A private school supported by church/parish
Culturally Diverse Learners Students who come from homes that English is not spoken
School Boards People responsible for the maintenance and needs etc. for schools
De Facto Segregation Segregation by people and not by the law (practice)
Segregation Separation on race, class, or ethnic group
De Jure Segregation Segregation laws are put into place
Sexism Discriminate based on gender/sex
Deficit Theory When students have disadvantages it impacts their learning at school
Social Justice Equal distribution of resources/treatment that make students feel cared for physically and mentally
Discrimination Stereotype Assuming and isolated a specific idea/people
