Aspiration The inhalation of a foreign substance or regurgitated gastric contents into the lungs
Dysphagia Difficulty in swallowing
Meniscus The bottom of the curve in liquid
Nasogastric tube (NGT) medication administration Medication administered through a tube inserted through the nose and extending into the stomach
Oral medication administration Administering medications by mouth
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube Feeding tube inserted in stomach
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube medication administration Feeding tubes, or PEG tubes, allow you to receive medication or nutrition through your stomach
Rectal medications Medications in suppository or liquid form administered as a retention enema
Rectal route Enteral route of medication administration that allows for rapid and effective absorption of medications via the highly vascularized rectal mucosa
Retention enema An enema that may be used to provide nourishment, medication, or anesthetic
