Clark’s Rule A method used to calculate a child’s dosage based on their weight

Decimal A number expressed in the base-ten system that can be used to represent fractions of a whole
Decimal Rounding The process of approximating a decimal to a specified degree of accuracy, often used in dosage calculations for tablets and liquid medications
Denominator The bottom number in a fraction, indicating the total number of parts the whole is divided into
Dosage The measured quantity of a therapeutic agent to be administered at one time
Fraction A numerical quantity that is not a whole number, used in dosage calculations for drugs that are divided into parts
Geriatric Dosage The adjustment of medication doses for older adults, accounting for factors like decreased circulation, chronic disease, or impaired organ function
Medication Error Any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use or harm to a patient
Numerator The top number in a fraction, representing the number of parts
Pediatric Dosage The adjustment of medication doses for children, often calculated using body weight or age
Percentage A fraction with a denominator of 100, used in medication dosing for calculations and comparisons
Ratio and Proportion A method used in dosage calculations where quantities are compared to determine the correct dose
Unit Dose A pre-packaged, single-use dose of medication that eliminates the need for calculations at the time of administration
Young’s Rule A formula used to calculate the appropriate dosage for a child based on age
