TermDefinition
Mimesis the art of imitation through physical and vocal means
Chorus a group of voices speaking or singing as one voice
Monologue a single voice advances the narrative, either presentationally or representationally
Dialogue two or more voices advance the narrative
Presentational Style the performance style which ACKNOWLEDGES the audience
Representational Style the performance style which IGNORES the audience
Aside when a character moves from representational to presentational ("breaking the fourth wall")
Soliloquy a representational technique where a performer speaks their thoughts aloud
"Blocking" the performer's path and movement on stage, created and set in rehearsal
Motivation the wants and desire of the character
Projection performance technique which uses resonance in the body to amplify the voice
Articulation the formation of clear and distinct sounds in speech
Francois Delsarte he created a system to physically express emotions
Sense/Me "internal" performance method developed by Konstantin Stanislavsky
