States of Matter Three forms- Solid, Liquid, Gas
Solid matter with a definite shape and volume that is made up of vibrating particles
Liquid matter with definite volume but no definite shape
Gas a form of matter with no definite shape or volume
Temperature the measure of how hot or cold something is
Mass the amount of matter an object has
Volume the amount of space an object takes up
Attract to pull to or pull towards something
Repel to force something to move away
Water Displacement the process where an object submerged in water pushes aside a volume of water equal to its own volume
Magnetic material that has the ability to physically attract other substances
Observable characteristics or things about materials or objects that we can describe using our five senses
Measurable physical attribute that can be expressed with a numerical value, like mass, volume, density, temperature, or length
Chemical Change the process where one of more kinds of matter changes into one or more kinds of matter
Physical Change a change in traits such as color, size, and shape that does not change what the substance is made of
Temperature Change the degree of heat or cold in an object or an environment changing
Melt to change from a solid to a liquid through heat
Freeze to make into ice or become solid from cold temperatures
Evaporate to turn from liquid into gas
Condense to cause to change from a gas to a liquid or solid through cooling
Decay to break down or become destroyed by a slow, natural process.
Atoms a particle that is the smallest and most basic of an element
Mixture a substance where different materials are put together but each keeps its own properties
Particle Size comparing dimensions of solid particles, liquid particles, or gaseous particles
Dissolve to mix completely with a liquid
Filter a device used to remove dirt or other solids from liquids or gases that pass through it.
Sieve a tool used to separate solid from liquid or to separate smaller pieces of something from larger pieces
Sort to put into groups
