Reticular Formation: is nerve network that travels through brainstem filters info and controls arousal older brain structure
Hypothalmus: directs maintenance activities part of limbic system
Hippocampus: Helps process facts and memories part of limbic system
Endocrine System: chemical messengers are slower than neurons that go to your blood. It is a slower system ex Pituitary gland or Adrenal gland.
Lesion: Is tissue destruction
PET's: displays radioactive form of glucose goes while brain performs a task
FMRI: measures blood flow is a cheaper MRI
Pons: helps coordinate movement and control sleep older brain structure
Medulla: controls heartbeat and breathing older brain structure
Cerebellum: process sensory inputs older brain structure
Amygdala: is associated with emotions part of limbic system
