Module 7-8 AP Psych Unit 1

TermDefinition
Cross-sectional studies Research that compares people of different ages at the same point
Longitudinal studies Research that follows and retests the same people over time
Twin studies these are studies with either fraternal or identical twins either varying in home environment or hereditary
Case study This is a descriptive technique in which one individual is studied in depth
Naturalistic observation A descriptive technique of observing and recording behavior in natural settings
Surveys A descriptive technique for obtaining the self-reported attitudes and behaviors of a particular group
Correlational studies These studies collect data on two or more variables without manipulating them
Experiments These explore cause and effect by manipulating one or more independent variables
Informed consent These explore cause and effect by manipulating one or more independent variables
Debriefing The post experimental explanation of the study
Confidentiality You must keep the information about the individuals confidential
Keep from harm Protect the individual from greater-than-usual harm and discomfort
Deception Saying one thing and it's the other but must be explain during the debrief
