-ectasis stretching or dilation as in bronchiectasis, the dilation of the bronchial tubes
-emesis vomiting as in hematemesis which means vomiting blood
-lysis destruction, breakdown or separation as in hemolysis which means red blood cells are destroyed
-pepsia digestion as in dyspepsia which means difficult digestion
-phagia eating or swallowing as in dysphagia which means difficult swallowing
-plasty surgical repair as in rhinoplasty which means surgical repair of the nose
-ptysis spitting as in hemoptysis which means spitting blood
-rrhagia or -rrhage bursting forth of blood as in hemorrhage which means blood burst
-spasm sudden, involuntary contraction of muscles as in neurospasm which means contraction of the nerve muscles
-tripsy to crush as in lithotripsy, the crushing of stones
