| cell | the fundamental unit of every living thing (animal or plant). Cells are everywhere in the human body; every tissue, every organ is made up of these individual units. |
| types of cells | a muscle cell, a nerve cell and a fat cell. |
| lymphocyte | a white blood cell |
| tissue | a group of similar cells working together to do a specific job |
| histologist | a scientist who specializes in the study of tissues. |
| primary tissues | epithelial, connective, skeletal, muscular, glandular, and nervous. |
| viscera | organs. Structures composed of several kinds of tissue. It is a part of the body having a special function. |
| abdominal viscera | organs located in the abdomen, are the liver, stomach, intestines, pancreas, spleen and gallbladder. |
| systems | groups of organs working together to perform complex functions. |
