TermDefinition
cell the fundamental unit of every living thing (animal or plant). Cells are everywhere in the human body; every tissue, every organ is made up of these individual units.
types of cells a muscle cell, a nerve cell and a fat cell.
lymphocyte a white blood cell
tissue a group of similar cells working together to do a specific job
histologist a scientist who specializes in the study of tissues.
primary tissues epithelial, connective, skeletal, muscular, glandular, and nervous.
viscera organs. Structures composed of several kinds of tissue. It is a part of the body having a special function.
abdominal viscera organs located in the abdomen, are the liver, stomach, intestines, pancreas, spleen and gallbladder.
systems groups of organs working together to perform complex functions.
