| Purpose? (Knee) | To demonstrate and evaluate knee joint and associated structures. |
| Structures of Interest? (Knee) | - Joint Capsule - Menisci - Collateral Cruciate Ligaments |
| Clinical Indications? (Knee) | - Suspected tears of the joint capsule, menisci, and/or ligaments - Most injuries are results from trauma - A non-traumatic pathology is a baker cyst |
| What is a Bakers cyst? (Knee) | Swelling behind the knee composed of a membrane lined sac of synovial fluid. |
| Contraindications? (Knee) | Allergies to contrast media and/or local anesthetics |
| What is being imaged and rotation between the images? (Knee) | - Views of meniscus - Leg is rotated 20 degrees between exposures |
| Purpose? (Shoulder) | Demonstrates: - Joint Capsule - Rotator Cuff - Long tendons of the biceps - Articular cartilage |
| Clinical Indications? (Shoulder) | - Cronic pain or generalized weakness in shoulder joint - Suspected rotator cuff tear |
| What is the Rotator Cuff? | Group of 4 muscles and their tendons that wrap around the front, back, and top of shoulder |
| Muscles that make up the rotator cuff? | - Supraspinatus - Infraspinatus - Teres minor - Subscapularis |
| Needle used for shoulder arthrograms? | 2 1/4 - 3 1/2 inch spinal needle |
