Clickbait Posts or ads designed to capture people's attention and get them to click on a link
Generic Greeting A salutation at the beginning of a digital message that does not address the person by name
Credible Trustworthy, believable
Digital Footprint A collection of data from someone's online activity that can be traced back to them, including the emails they've sent, the websites they've looked at, the posts they've made, the photos and videos they've shared, etc.
URL An address for a specific webpage or file located on the Internet
Two Factor Authentication (2FA) A tool to keep your information safe by requiring multiple things to access an account online, such as your password and a verification code sent to your phone or email
Address Bar A text field near the top of the web browser that displays the URL
Cookies Small files of information, stored on your devices, that websites use to gather data from your online searches and learn information about you
Identity Theft A crime that involves using another person's personal or financial information to commit fraud for financial gain
Cybersecurity The protection of computers, networks, and data from cyberattacks and unauthorized access
Shortened URL A web address that has been condensed and that could mislead users into going into risky websites
Phishing A scam by which an Internet user is fooled (as by a deceptive e-mail message supposedly from a company or bank) into revealing personal or confidential information
Phishing Clues Too good to be true, poor grammar, misspelled words, sense of urgency, friend in trouble
Bookmark A saved shortcut that directs the web browser to a specific webpage
Biometrics Physical characteristics that can identify a person, such as fingerprint scans & facial recognition
