In what kind of organism (unicellular or multicellular) does this occur? Differentiation Multicellular
What is a cell? -The basic unit of life. - Smallest living level of organization.
What is an organelle? - Largest non-living level of organization.
Cell Membrane - Both cells - Controls what goes in and out of the cell.
Cell Wall - Provides structural strength and support to plant cells.
Cytoskeleton - Both cells - Supports and shapes the cell, helps position and transport organelles, provides strength, and aids cell movement.
Cytoplasm - Both cells - Responsible for holding the components of the cell, protecting them from damage.
Smooth ER -Both cells -Produces lipids and acts as a transport system.
Rough ER -Both cells -Produces proteins and acts as a transport system.
Nucleus -Both cells - Controls cell Function
Nucleolus - Both cells - Inside nucleus - Produces ribosomes
Nuclear Envelope - Both cells - Separates the contents of the nucleus from Cytoplasm providing structure for the nucleus.
Ribosomes - Both cells - Produces proteins
Lysosome - Both cells - Break down Food, waste, etc in a cell.
Vacuole - Both Cells - Stores Food, proteins, water, etc.
Central Vacuole -Plant Cells - Stores salts, minerals, nutrients, proteins, playing important structural support.
Golgi Body -Both Cells - Packages proteins for transport.
Mitochondria -Both cells -Produces energy for the cells
Chloroplast - Plant cells - Produces energy in the form of sugar.
Cilia - Both cells - Many hairs around a cell that help with movement.
Flagella -Both cells -One to three long tails that help cells move.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
