Beta Adrenergic Blocking Agents(Beta Blockers)

Beta Adrenergic Blocking Agents has the ability to block sympathetic stimulation which produces: a reduction in heart rate, reduces contractibility, and slows electrical conduction in the heart.
Antidysrhythmic Agent examples: propanolol(Inderal), esmolol(Brevibloc) bretylium tosylate(Bretylol)
An overdose of beta blockers can be treated with: epinephrine or norepinephrine.
Beta blockers are contraindicated in patients with AV block and sinus bradycardia.
Propranolol can cause bronchconstriction, therefore its use is contraindicated in clients with? chronic pulmonary diseases such as asthma or chronic bronchitis.
What has to be monitored when on Beta Blockers? Heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiac output.
If urine output is decreased, then what else is likely to be decreased? Cardiac output
Beta 1, remember 1 heart; Beta 2, remember: 2 lungs
Adverse effects of antidysrhythmic agents are: Causes bronchoconstriction, Causes heart failure
Amiodarone HCl(Cordarone)may increase the activity of: warfarin(Coumadin) and digoxin(Lanoxin)
Amiodarone HCl is contraindicated in patients with: AV block, bradycardia, newborns and infants.
Amiodarone HCl can cause: Pulmonary fibrosis, yellow-brown granular deposits in the cornea
