| prism | a solid object that bends light separating white light into bands of colored light; not a lens |
| electromagnetic spectrum | the range of all light waves of varying wavelengths, including the visible spectrum |
| refraction | the bending of light when it moves from 1 kind of matter to another |
| reflection | the bouncing of light waves off of an object ex: look in a mirror |
| transparent | allows MOST light to pass through; clear image; can be seen |
| translucent | allowing SOME light to pass through; blurry image can be seen |
| opaque | completely blocking light from passing through; no image can be seen |
| light | kind of energy that can cause changes and also give things color |
| rays | straight lines in which light usually travels |
| prism | solid triangular object that bends white light at different angles |
| white light | all the colors of light mixed together |
| visible spectrum | made of all the colors of light that people can see ROYGBIV |
