| Dutch East India Company | A Netherlands company that dominated the spice trade in Southeast Asia |
| Manila | The capital of the Philippines |
| Emilio Aguinaldo | A leader in the movement for Filipino independence in the 1890s |
| Ho Chi Minh | The leader of North Vietnam who wanted to unify North and South Vietnam under communism; these efforts started the Vietnam War |
