| Assonance | The repetition of the vowel sound across words within the lines of the poem creating internal rhymes |
| Consonance | The repetition of the same consonant sounds in a line of text |
| Enjambment | The continuation of a sentence or phrase from one line of poetry to the next |
| Parallel structure | Repeating the same pattern of words for effect - this could be starting with the same word or type of word, or using a pattern of words that have the same structure |
