Capital resource | a type of resource. The tools, technology, and man-made materials needed to make a product |
Infrastructure | an example of capital resource. Things that are in place to enable easier access to resources. (ex: roads, power lines) |
Primary | the lowest level of economic activity. Involves collecting resources (ex: fishing, farming, mining) |
Secondary | the second lowest level of economic activity. Involves manufacturing and processing. (ex: saw mill, car assembly) |
Tertiary | the second highest level of economic activity. Involves providing services to people. (transportation, entertainment, sales) |
Quaternary | the highest level of economic activity. Involves creating, maintaining, and developing information. (ex: scientific research, finance, insurance) |
Unequal distribution of resources | leads to interdependence of nations, conflict between have and have-nots, some regions developing faster/slower than others |
Energy resources and technology | As technology has advanced, different resources have been central to producing energy. The demand for these resources and the results of their production/consumption have created lasting effects on our world. |
