chemical digestion food is chemically changed into a new substance.

starch complex carbohydrate
stomach organ in the body that mechanically digests all foods and chemically digests proteins
protein component of our food that gives us building materials, chemically digested in stomach
fat component of food that provides energy (stored), chemically digested in small intestine
bile acid produced by liver - dissolves fat into tiny droplets
small intestine organ that chemically breaks down fats and absorbs food molecules
absorption substance gets taken in by something else
surface area sum of all the faces of an object - outermost layer
cell membrane semi-permeable boundary; separates cell from its environment that controls what enters and leaves the cell
diffusion movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to low concentration
osmosis movement of water molecules across cell membrane: area of high concentration to low concentration
plasma liquid portion of the blood that carries water and glucose
capillaries very small arteries and veins where the exchange of important nutrients and waste occur between blood and cells
