Lesson 01 Vocab

Subregion A smaller part of a region
Lock A gated passageway used to raise of lower boats in a waterway
Tributary A small river that flows into a larger river
Levee A raised riverbank used to control flooding
Coastal Plain The flat lowland area along a coastline
Fall Line The area where waterfalls flow from higher to lower ground
Hurricane A storm with strong winds and heavy rains
