| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Matter | any object or substance that has mass |
| Mass | the amount of matter in something |
| balance | a tool used to measure mass |
| States of Matter | forms that matter can take:solid, liquid, & gas |
| solid | the state of matter that has a definite shape and takes up a definite amount of space |
| liquid | the state of matter that takes the shape of its container and takes up a definite amount of space |
| gas | the state of matter that has no definite shape and takes up no definite amount of space |
| volume | how much space something takes up |
| graduated cylinder | a tool used to measure the volume of liquids and small objects |
| property | things that you can measure and describe such as volume, mass, size, shape, texture, color, conductivity, magnetism, and state |
| texture | how something feels when you touch it. |
| conductor | a substance that carries heat or electricity |
| insulator | a material that current cannot pass through easily |
| evaportaion | the process in which liquids become a gas |
| condensation | the process in which a gass becomes a liquid |
| Difference between a products made of rubber and metal | The metal products are conductors and rubber products are insulators. |
| How do you use a balance? | Place an object in one pan and then put the grams in the other pan. When the pans are level you will know the mass. |
| How do you use a measuring cup or graduated cylinder? | Place it on a flat surface and fill it with the liquid or item. Then look at it at eye level and read the amount. |
