Behaviorism Psychology should be an objective science. -Observable behavior is important to study... not unseen mental processes.
Case Study A descriptive technique in which one individual or group is studied in depth in the hope of revealing universal principles.
Freudian Psychology Unconscious forces and childhood experiences effect our behaviors and mental processes.
Psychoanalysis An influential treatment process
Operational Definition A carefully worded statement of the exact procedures used in research study.
Random Assignment Assigning participants to experimental and control groups by chance, thus minimizing pre-existing / in order to control confounding variables experimenters randomly assign subjects to the experimental and control group.
Humanistic Psychology Humans strive to reach their full potential. 1. Unconditional love 2. Personal growth
Theory An explanation using an integrated set of principle that organizes observations and predict behavior or events.
Naturalistic Observation Observing your subject in their natural element
Survey A descriptive technique for obtaining the self-reported attitudes or behaviors of a particular group, usually by questioning a representative, random sample of the group
