TermDefinition
Project Is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result
Program Is a group of related projects, subsidiary programs, and program activities that are managed in a coordinated manner to obtain benefits not available for managing them individually
Portfolio Is a collection of projects, programs, subsidiary portfolios, and operations managed as a group to achieve strategic objectives
Operations Is the ongoing production of goods and/or services
Predictive/Waterfall Approach The project scope, time, and cost are determined in the early phases of the life cycle. Any changes to the scope are carefully managed
Adaptive/Agile Approach The detailed scope is defined and approved before the start of an iteration
Issue Is a challenging event that has already occurred or is currently occurring
Risk Is an event that may occur that could affect a project, could be a benefit or a challenge
Assumption Is something we believe to be true and we therefore build into the project plan
Constraints Are things that we know to be true and which must be accounted for in the plan so that we can work around them
Plan Scope Management Developing a plan that outlines our strategy for developing and validating our project scope and requirements.
Collect Requirements Determining stakeholder needs and project requirements
Define Scope Fully characterize the products scope and acceptance criteria, based upon the requirements captured in previous process
Create WBS Create a scope baseline by decomposing your project work into easy-to-manage chunks
Validate Scope Obtain formal acceptance of the projects deliverables from customer/sponsor
Control Scope Making sure the projects scope doesn't change without it being reviewed or approved by the change control board through the formal change request process

Fairness Project management code of ethics - is our duty to make decisions and act impartially and objectively. Our conduct must be free from competing self interest, prejudice, and favoritism
Honesty Project management code of ethics - is our duty to understand the truth and act in a truthful manner both in our communities and in our conduct
